Stardust

Sometimes after being with you
You’re all I can think about.
It’s the twinkling skies
Beneath your eyelids,
The nectar in your lips
And I swear I see
The universe
Etched in your skin,
Lingering traces of elemental mischief
Where worlds play out
And stars die;
Whole lifetimes lived
Beneath your fingertips.
In moments like these
I feel my breath whole,
Your stardust woven into the
Darkest corners of my heart.
Not a fighter,
Nor an angel,
Dancing in realms long past but ever present.
This mood you leave me in –
Hungry, yearning –
I could sing eternal love songs
Dipped in the ink of lost voices
Not my own.
